🌍 Supporting Rural Girls in Lamwo: Laker’s Journey

Meet Laker Immaculate, a student at Lamwo Seeds Secondary School.
Before joining school, her days were marked by hardship walking long distances for water, missing lessons during her menstrual cycle due to lack of sanitary supplies, and struggling with the emotional pressure of poverty at home.
These challenges placed her at high risk of dropping out, a reality faced by many girls in Lamwo, one of Uganda’s poorest and hardest-to-reach district.
Through Enabling Rural Opportunity Network (ERONet) and our partners, Laker is now gaining stability in school.
She participates in mentoring sessions, receives learning support, and benefits from safe spaces where girls can build confidence and coping skills.
Her teachers say she has become more consistent, more hopeful, and more determined about her future. She dreams of becoming a nurse so she can help other girls facing similar struggles.
Laker’s story reflects thousands of girls in Lamwo who still lack sanitary materials, school fees, transportation, and basic scholastic items.
With your support, we aim to raise $5,000 to keep more girls like Laker in school safe, confident, and on a path to a brighter future.
Your contribution provides essentials such as sanitary pads, counselling support, income-generating training for caregivers, and emergency school retention funds.
