Empowering Girls Up Club: Bridging Borders with the Letter Exchange Project (Funded by Girl Up International)

ERONet Solutions & Long Term Impact

ERONet is dedicated to transforming the lives of women and girls in some of the world's most challenging environments – rural and post-conflict settings. Our projects are strategically designed to address key areas of intervention, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to create lasting positive change.

Our projects

01. Education

Our initiatives strive to enhance access and participation in free education for girls in rural and post-conflict areas, contributing directly to SDG 4 (Quality Education). By improving school infrastructure and providing life skills training, we empower these girls to break barriers and build a foundation for lifelong learning.

02.Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG)

ERONet is at the forefront of combating gender-based violence through financial services, community dialogue, and media campaigns. By doing so, we actively support the implementation of SDG 5 (Gender Equality), working towards a world where women and girls can live free from violence and discrimination.

03. Health and Hygiene

Tackling poor health is a core aspect of our projects. From menstrual hygiene management to sexual reproductive health services and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (W.A.S.H.) initiatives, we contribute to SDGs 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), promoting the well-being of women and girls in these underserved communities.

04. Livelihood and Entrepreneurship

ERONet believes in economic empowerment as a catalyst for sustainable development. Our projects support vocational training, microcredit schemes, and agricultural development, aligning with SDGs 1 (No Poverty) and 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). By fostering economic self-sufficiency, we empower women to build better futures for themselves and their communities.

05. Disaster Relief and Humanitarian Assistance

In post-conflict settings, we conduct risk profiling, engage with affected communities, and provide immediate relief during emergencies. This aligns with SDGs 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and 13 (Climate Action), ensuring the resilience and well-being of women and girls in these challenging environments

03. Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability

Our commitment to environmental sustainability is reflected in initiatives promoting improved agricultural practices, addressing threats to resources, habitat, and biodiversity. ERONet's work directly contributes to SDGs 2 (Zero Hunger) and 15 (Life on Land), fostering a balanced and sustainable ecosystem

Project: LeDNA Project: Empowering Students in Environmental Science through eDNA Sampling (2024)

Collaboration and Funder:

We are excited to announce the successful completion of the LeDNA Project, a groundbreaking initiative carried out in collaboration between ERONet and ETH Zurich. This impactful project was generously funded by the European Union (EU), whose support was instrumental in bringing advanced environmental science education to our students in Northern Uganda.

Project Overview:

The LeDNA Project introduced students to the innovative practice of environmental DNA (eDNA) sampling, providing them with hands-on experience in monitoring biodiversity within their local ecosystems. This collaboration aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, allowing students to engage directly with environmental science.

Impact on Students:

The impact of the LeDNA Project has been remarkable. Through this initiative, students not only learned about the importance of biodiversity and conservation but also developed essential skills in environmental science. The project particularly empowered young girls, who made up a significant portion of the participants, fostering their interest in STEM fields and increasing their confidence in pursuing environmental science careers. The knowledge and experience gained from this project have left a lasting impression on our students, equipping them with the tools to become future leaders in environmental stewardship
